Brilliant effort by David Sullivan
I decided to take my son to his first WHU game last Saturday. We live in the USA and he lost his Mum to cancer two years ago, so I thought it was time for a visit.

I'd bought two tickets via online booking and they were not together, so I emailed David Sullivan, explained the circumstances and asked if he could help.

Two hours later DS had replied, copied the Head of Ticketing, Gavin Stanley, and told him to sort it out.

We arrived last Saturday, and I collected tickets, knowing we were sat together. Gavin Stanley then took us on a guided tour of the ground, starting in the home dressing room, via the pitch and BFS' chair and then on through the offices and the hospitality area.

I was amazed how little space there is there. Small changing rooms, barely any space for marketing and offices, blah blah blah....we can't move to the OS soon enough.

And so to the game.......and the seats. Right behind the player's tunnel we had walked up...I've never had better seats. My son had the most fabulous day, although he was a little bemused by some of the comments aimed at Jermain Defoe......"Break that Judas cunt's fucking legs" was one and my son looked at me and said "Daddy, that's not very nice". I never explained to him what a paedo was.

Yesterday I emailed DS and thanked him. I commented that someone had made my son's day because they signed Diafra Sakho.

Only joking. Glad you enjoyed it.

I thought about DC United for approximately .5 of a second and then booked two transatlantic plane flights instead.

Hi mate, do you want a signed photo of Sakho scoring? I would've been sitting next to that bloke who got thrown out, wish id known it was you now. Think I had a white t shirt on with blue body warmer.

I was right behind you wondering how anyone could sit and watch that game in short sleeves. You are an Iron Man. The lady to my son's right was hilarious.....every time Sunderland crossed the halfway line she went "Oh No".

The bloke that got thrown out was very friendly to me.....funny, some people.

My son would love a signed photo......what can I do to help?

All that being nice must've taken it right out of Gavin, he was acting a dick in the Lion later, probably didn't help that I was a dick first, sorry Gavin.

I emailed the club when my dad was ill about getting tickets with wheel chair access etc. Sullivan replied straight away again with Gavin Stanley attached and they sorted it.

They do look after the fans when they can.

Hope your son had a great day!

Re: Brilliant effort by David Sullivan
WHU employ 120 permanent staff, and our revenue per game is about GBP0.5m. That struck me as a really small number. Even with hospitality and shirt revenue our income outside of TV revenue is feeble.

The reality is the move to the OS isn't going to increase the gate revenue by a significant amount so preservation of our PL status is huge. That's why the BFS decision is so huge.

Did you ask him why a gooner was drinking in a West ham boozer, one flew son?

Oh, and nice on VH son. Glad the boy got to see our real home.

"and our revenue per game is about GBP0.5m"

It's far more than that, ticket sales alone are £1m+

Great to hear VH.

And to think, some people say they don't care about the fans.

Do you mean profit per game is £0.5m?

Revenue from ticket sales of £0.5m would mean that the average price of a ticket is £14.28
